General Questions
What is Volunteer Vietnam?
Volunteer Vietnam is a non-profit organization based in Da Nang, Vietnam. Since 2004, we have welcomed more than 3,000 international volunteers who have supported healthcare, education, and social work programs for disadvantaged children, elderly people, and people with disabilities.

Where are you located?
Our head office and volunteer accommodation are located in Da Nang City, one of Vietnam's most beautiful coastal cities.

Who can volunteer?
Anyone aged 18 years or older with compassion, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help is welcome. Most of our programs do not require previous experience.

Do I need professional qualifications?
No. Most volunteers do not need professional qualifications. However, healthcare, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, education, and social work students or professionals can make valuable contributions through their specialized knowledge.

What volunteer programs do you offer?
We offer:

Who will I be helping?
You may work with:

• Children from low-income families
• Orphans and abandoned children
• Elderly people without family support
• People with physical or intellectual disabilities

What will I do as a volunteer?

• Depending on your placement, activities may include:
• Assisting physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions
• Teaching English

Supporting childcare

• Organizing games, sports, music and arts
• Assisting elderly care activities
• Supporting social work programs
• Helping with daily care and wellbeing activities

Program Requirements
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age is generally 18 years.

What is the minimum duration?
Most volunteer programs require a minimum stay of 4 weeks.

Can I stay longer?
Yes. Many volunteers stay for 2–6 months, and longer placements are welcome.

Can couples or friends volunteer together?
Yes. Friends, couples, families, and university groups are welcome.

Accommodation & Meals
Where will I stay?
You will stay at our Green House volunteer accommodation in Da Nang with other international volunteers.

Will I have my own room?
Most volunteers share comfortable rooms. Private accommodation may be available for an additional fee, subject to availability.

Are meals included?
Yes. Your program fee includes:

• Breakfast
• Lunch
• Dinner (Monday to Friday)
• Breakfast on Saturday
• Vegetarian meals are available.

Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the volunteer house.

Arrival & Orientation
Will someone pick me up?
Yes. We provide free airport pickup from Da Nang International Airport.

What happens when I arrive?
During your first two days you will receive an orientation covering:

• Vietnamese culture
• Basic Vietnamese language
• Safety information
• Volunteer expectations
• Project introduction
• Visit to placement sites

Daily Schedule
What are the working hours?
Typically, Monday to Friday. Around 20 working hours per week
This gives volunteers long weekends to explore Da Nang and Central Vietnam.

Will I have free time?
Yes. You will have plenty of free time to enjoy:

• My Khe Beach
• Hoi An Ancient Town
• Ba Na Hills
• Hai Van Pass
• Marble Mountains
• Hue Imperial City

Fees
What does the program fee include?
The fee includes:

• Airport pickup
• Accommodation
• Meals
• Local transport to project sites
• Orientation
• Vietnamese language lesson
• Cultural activities
• Volunteer support
• Certificate of completion
• Donation towards community projects

What is not included?
You are responsible for:

• International flights
• Travel insurance
• Visa fees
• Personal expenses
• Weekend meals (except Saturday breakfast)

Visa
Do I need a visa?
Many nationalities can enter Vietnam visa-free for a limited period. Others will need to apply for an appropriate visa before arrival.
Our team will guide you through the visa process after your placement is confirmed.

Safety
Is Da Nang safe?
Yes.
Da Nang is widely regarded as one of the safest and cleanest cities in Vietnam and is popular with international visitors.
Will I have support during my stay?
Yes.
Our local staff provide support throughout your entire placement, including:

• Daily project support
• Emergency assistance
• Cultural guidance
• Translation assistance
• Travel advice
• Health

Do I need vaccinations?
We recommend consulting your doctor or travel clinic before traveling to Vietnam.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is mandatory for all volunteers.

Applications

How do I apply?
Simply complete our online application form. After reviewing your application, we will contact you to arrange your placement and provide the next steps.

How long does it take to receive a response?
We usually respond within a few working days.

When can I start?
You can join throughout most of the year, except during certain national holiday periods.

Donations

Can I donate without volunteering?
Absolutely.
We welcome donations that support our healthcare, education, rehabilitation, and community development projects.

What items are most needed?
We greatly appreciate donations such as:

• Children's books
• Sports equipment
