Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Internship
OVERVIEW
This program is designed for students and professionals in the fields of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy who wish to undertake an internship at a rehabilitation center within our project. You will have the opportunity to work alongside local physiotherapists and occupational therapists to provide therapy and rehabilitation services for approximately 100 vulnerable patients at the Da Nang City Social Support Center.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Can communicate in English
- Minimum stay : 04 weeks
- We only accept applications 02 weeks before the start dates
THE PROGRAM DETAILS
1. Program Purpose
To provide physiotherapy volunteers with supervised community-based clinical exposure while improving access to rehabilitation, mobility education, injury prevention, and wellness services for underserved populations.
2. Program Objectives
By the end of the program, students should be able to:
• Apply foundational physiotherapy knowledge in real-world settings
• Develop communication and patient interaction skills
• Promote injury prevention and healthy movement practices
• Assist licensed physiotherapists in assessments and rehabilitation activities
• Understand community health needs and interdisciplinary care
• Build professionalism, empathy, teamwork, and leadership skills
3. Target Participants
Volunteers
• Undergraduate or graduate physiotherapy students
• Recommended year levels: 2nd year and above
• Students in good academic standing
Beneficiaries ( Ages from 6 to 70 years old)
• Elderly populations
• Individuals with disabilities by brain damages, accidents, injuries and unknown reasons
• Post-stroke patients
Each week, you will work from Monday morning to Friday morning, giving you a long weekend from Friday afternoon onward to explore Da Nang City and the many attractions in the surrounding area.On weekday mornings, you will work in the rehabilitation room at the Da Nang Social Support Center, supporting therapy sessions and rehabilitation exercises for people with disabilities.
You will:
- Assist therapists during sessions.
- Prepare equipment and materials.
- Provide one-on-one support.
- Help monitor participant engagement and safety.
- Organize recreational and therapeutic activities.
Each week, you will work for this program for around 20 hours. During the remainder of your volunteer placement, you will also have opportunities to contribute to educational activities for children and well-being support programs for vulnerable individuals. These additional responsibilities will provide a diverse and equally rewarding experience, allowing you to broaden your perspective, develop new skills, and gain a deeper understanding of community development and social support. This combination of activities will enrich your overall volunteer journey and maximize the positive impact of your contribution.
PROGRAM FEE: USD 300 PER WEEK
We are a non-profit organization and do not receive funding from the government or other institutions to operate. We focus on humanitarian work in the fields of social work, healthcare, and education, supporting underprivileged communities such as orphanages, social protection centers, and poor schools.To carry out these activities, we rely on program fees from volunteers like you to fund our operations. Your program fee helps us cover the following expenses:
- Maintaining volunteer housing
- Providing meals for you
- Transportation to and from volunteer sites
- Salaries for staff who support you
- Organizing cultural and recreational activities
- Purchasing necessary materials for volunteer work
