A Little Ocean of Joy: Our Sensory Room

At Volunteer Vietnam, many projects bring happiness to the community, but some feel especially close to our hearts. One of the most beautiful projects created by our volunteers is the Sensory Room.
The idea first started in 2024 with Mary, a volunteer from England. She saw that many children with disabilities needed a space where they could relax, play, and enjoy something different from their daily routine. Instead of staying in the same environment all the time, the children could have a special place designed just for them.
This year, the room was lovingly renovated by Julia. With her dedication and genuine care for children in need, she spent a lot of time, effort, and even her own money to improve the space and make it more engaging for the kids.
Inspired by the ocean, Julia transformed the room into a gentle “fairy ocean.” The space is decorated in calming blue tones, with beautiful sea creature stickers on the walls. There are soft ball chairs and sensory elements that make the room both relaxing and fun.

The atmosphere is peaceful but also playful, perfect for children with autism, hyperactivity, and other sensory needs.
The goal of the Sensory Room is simple: to create a happy, safe place where children can explore, relax, and enjoy their time.

Last week, we were very happy to celebrate the grand opening of the room. Seeing the children step into this new space and experience it for the first time was a really special moment for everyone.

What started as Mary’s idea has grown into something wonderful thanks to Julia and the help of many other volunteers. Together, they have helped create a space that truly improves the quality of life for the children.
To every volunteer who helped build and support this project - thank you. Your kindness and effort have created a truly special place for these kids.
